If you miss having your regular tea during pregnancy, try a hot cuppa of mint tea. It is natural, safe and has loads of health benefits. Here are a few reasons why mint tea is good for the mamma-to-be because of its medicinal and antioxidant properties.
- It helps relax the stomach muscles and so eases symptoms of heartburn and indigestion.
- It helps ease nausea and vomiting.
- It reduces flatulence and treats pregnancy induce diarrhoea.
- It stimulates appetite during the first trimester.
- It is also known to cure headaches during pregnancy.
How to make it:
Buy some mint leaves from the market or pluck them from a farm. Soak them in lukewarm water for few minutes to get rid of dirt and pesticides. Wash them thoroughly in fresh water. In a pan add the mint leaves and one cup of water and let it simmer. Don’t overdo it. Take it off the stove when bubbles appear. Strain the tea and add honey and lemon for taste. Drink it when it is hot and relax.
